Tamarind Lodge and Campsite - Kariba Gorge
Tamarind Lodge is uniquely located at the end of the scenic and spectacular Zambezi River Kariba Gorge, opposite the Zimbabwe Game Management area. This self catering lodge offers a wealth of activies as well as opportunities to relax and unwind, as it is ideally located just 220km from Lusaka.
The 5 en-suite chalets all have river views. The dining, bar and deck area is a great place to sit and have a sundowner. The plunge pool is filled with river water and is an excellent way of cooling down on those very hot days in the valley.
The camp is fully kitted for self catering, providing a gas cooker, all crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and bed linen. The camp does not have electricity, however there is a limited stock of paraffin lanterns. Hot water is provided by a wood fired boiler.
The friendly staff are available to help guests with their luggage and they will maintain a clean camp, attending to the washing of dishes and the cleaning of rooms.
There are a variety of activities on offer. For those who enjoy fishing, there is a boat for hire for a half or full day. Amazing tiger fish catches have been recorded, with fanatical fishermen coming from far afield to enjoy the ultimate fishing experience. For the energetic, guests can hike up to the top of the hills for spectacular views, or walk with tribal commenatry to the sacred hot springs with all their cultural mysique, full of spiritualtiy and mythology. For bird lovers, Tamarind Lodge is a Zambia Ornithological Society designated and beaconed site.
